Are you a RVer? Are you dreaming of RVing across America? You have come to the right place. Here, we will prepare you for that road trip by giving every bit of information you need to know to enjoy zigzagging across this country that has a lot to offer. Ready for our guide? Let’s get started.
Where are you going to sleep?
As your RV across America, you will need to be sure of the right camping spots. States like New Mexico, Orange, and Arizona offer free undeveloped camping areas in their national forests you may want to consider.
If you have a service, you can use it to find RV parks near you. Most services come in handy unless in cases where you have zero bars. To avoid frustrations when you have zero bars, consider bringing with you RV Road Atlas by Sam Club. It lists 3700 RV campgrounds and parks across the country and will help you find the best camping spots near you.
Becoming a member of either AAA or Good Sam Club is also a good idea when planning to hit the road. These companies will make your cross-country road trip more enjoyable in many ways. For example, you will enjoy discounts at many RV parks and campgrounds across the country!
If you opt to join AAA, it is worth noting that it enrolls on a state-by-state basis. This means you have to enrol where your RV is registered. It is also good to note some benefits may not be available in some states.
You can also leverage Wal-Marts overnight free of charge parking as you restock toiletry or food supplies you are running low on. Wal-Marts allow RVs to park overnight at zero fees except for LA and a few other selected cities.
Wal-Marts are also an excellent resource for RV specific supplies. But if you want the best deal and selection, we recommend Camping World. Here you can find water hoses, sewage hose, and all other RV specific supplies you need at pocket-friendly prices.
How are you going to afford all that gas?
A good question? One thing worth noting is that gas prices will keep on fluctuating as you move from one state to another. This means you must be ready to spend on gas as it is difficult to budget for how much you will pay.
The best way to cut on your gas is by taking advantage of the several gas rewards programs out there. For example, if you are a member of Pilot Flying J, you have a guarantee of enjoying some rewards. These rewards include:
- $0.02 discount off each gallon of gasoline*
- $0.03 discount off each gallon of diesel*
- $0.10 discount off each gallon of propane fuel
- $5 off dumping fee (regularly $10)
- Special pricing and deals in our retail stores and restaurants
- Birthday Rewards during your birthday month
- Special deals specifically for you! Check your online account, receipt, or any in-store kiosk.
- Sweepstakes entries with every inside purchase (excludes fuel purchases)
The only state you will not get a discount on gas or diesel is Wisconsin.
You can also receive 10% off at participating Denny’s restaurants.
What happens if something breaks and needs repairs?
It not possible to tell when you will have a flat tire, or you will be required to replace or repair some parts of your RV. And because it is highly likely you be needed to fix some parts, it prudent to be prepared.
If you have joined clubs like AAA or Good Sam, no need to worry in case you need help because you are automatically guaranteed some benefits. For example, you are assured emergency fuel and fluid delivery, battery jumpstart service, emergency medical referral service, tire repair, unlimited towing to the nearest service center, and new tire delivery.
